(how we review)

Dosing & scaling, explained

The 200 mcg daily row is an injectable calculator preset. Published human Selank work is predominantly intranasal and cannot validate that route or amount. This is educational source context, not a protocol or recommendation.

How sourced amounts are organized

  1. Starting pointNot clinically establishedNo validated titration window

There is no regulator-approved starting dose for this research use. A low-looking number is not automatically safe.

  2. Recorded preset200 mcg / dayCalculator library reference

This is the range represented in the in-app protocol library. It describes the source record; it does not validate the regimen.

  3. Higher exposureNo injectable ceiling establishedRisk and uncertainty increase

Higher exposure is not established as more effective. Human pharmacokinetic and long-term safety data may be absent.

Drug amount and device markings are different quantities. The calculator converts mass into volume, syringe units, or pen clicks.

Patterns described in source material

  • Daily in the recorded preset

The cadence represented by the recorded calculator presets.

  • Intranasal courses in regional clinical studies

Published experiments may use a different route, formulation, timing, or population and should not be treated as interchangeable.

  • No universal schedule

No single schedule has been validated across products or research contexts.

Clinical context

Limited human evidence exists, but it does not establish the in-app injectable regimen.

Storage, handling and interpretation

Lyophilized material

Keep cold, dry, and protected from light according to the manufacturer certificate or validated lab SOP.

After reconstitution

Use sterile technique, refrigerate as validated, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Traceability

Record lot, concentration, preparation date, and the identity/purity documentation used by the lab.

Registered Russian label, Selank 0.15% nasal dropsAdults with anxiety and neurasthenic disorders, as the registered indication is written2 drops into each nostril of the 0.15% solution (1.5 mg per mL)3 times dailyIntranasal drops14 daysA repeat course is described as possible after 1-3 weeks, following consultation with a doctorCommunity resource2009
This manufacturer instruction carries the Russian Ministry of Health registration and sets out the only officially sanctioned Selank schedule anywhere. It specifies drops rather than a mass per day, so a figure in micrograms cannot be read directly off the label, and the registration has no FDA or EMA standing.

Korsakova (Mediasphera)2014
The authors reported an anxiolytic effect that persisted for at least 7 days after the last dose plus a mild nootropic effect, and significantly better tolerability than phenazepam. The published abstract gives no numerical comparison of effect size, and the trial was small and open to the researchers who developed the compound.

Korsakova (PubMed)2008
This is the most-cited human study. Anxiolytic effects were reported as similar to the benzodiazepine comparator, with additional antiasthenic and mild stimulant effects and a rise in serum leu-enkephalin half-life that correlated with anxiety scores. Readers outside Russian are limited to the abstract, which carries no dose, no duration and no effect sizes.

Korsakova (PubMed)2015
Adding selank brought the depression-scale response forward and reduced phenazepam side effects, including attention and memory problems, sedation, sexual disturbance and orthostatic symptoms, both during treatment and after withdrawal. As with the other Russian trials, the published abstract reports no doses and the work comes from the group associated with the compound.

Under chronic stress, selank alone and selank with diazepam lowered elevated-plus-maze anxiety measures relative to saline, with the combination strongest. In the unstressed group every substance course, including saline, worsened anxiety measures, which the authors read as the dosing procedure itself being a stressor.

A single intranasal dose altered expression of genes for GABA receptor subunits and transporters in the frontal cortex, which the authors offer as a mechanism for the benzodiazepine-like clinical effects. The 300 mcg/kg figure is described as the most effective anxiolytic dose from earlier rodent work, and it is the dose used across most Selank animal studies.

How a course is commonly described

  1. Days 1-7Community-reported

Community guides describe the first week as the point at which anxiety, sleep and energy are tracked, with the compound reported as non-sedating compared with benzodiazepines. Nothing published describes a titration, so the course opens at full strength.

  2. Days 8-14Community-reported

The same guide places a stable response in this window for most people in the published record, and the Russian trials ran courses of roughly this length. Anxiety, sleep, energy and side effects are the tracked measures rather than any laboratory marker.

  3. End of the labelled 14-day courseClinical

The registered Russian instruction ends the course at 14 days and allows a repeat only after 1-3 weeks and after speaking to a doctor. That 14-day structure is the origin of almost every cycling pattern circulating online.

  4. First week after stoppingClinical

The 2014 phenazepam comparison reported that the anxiolytic effect was still present for at least 7 days after the last dose, which is unusual for a compound cleared this quickly and is one reason courses are described as discrete rather than continuous.

  5. Repeat coursesCommunity-reported

Community charts extend the label's gap into longer cycles, typically 14-21 days on and 1-3 weeks off for nasal use or 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off for injection. One 2026 chart states plainly that these schedules are vendor and forum convention rather than findings.

  • Only the intranasal route has a registered product and a published human literature. Subcutaneous Selank appears in vendor and forum material, with no registered preparation and no indexed human trial using injection.
  • The clinical evidence base is small, almost entirely Russian-language, and produced by or close to the institute that developed the compound, with limited independent replication and courses rarely longer than 21 days.
  • Doses in micrograms per day do not appear on the manufacturer instruction, which counts drops. Every microgram figure in circulation depends on an assumed drop volume, so the same label yields different totals depending on who is doing the arithmetic.

Overview

Selank is a synthetic seven-residue peptide designed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences by attaching the proline-glycine-proline tripeptide to the immune peptide tuftsin, which slows enzymatic breakdown. It is registered in Russia as Selank 0.15% nasal drops, an over-the-counter anxiolytic under registration number LRS-003338/09, and is classified there as a tranquilliser rather than a supplement. Human evidence is limited to a small number of Russian-language trials in anxiety, phobic and somatoform disorders, mostly comparing it with benzodiazepines in groups of 60 to 70 patients; it has no FDA or EMA approval and is sold elsewhere as a research chemical. Western community use frequently adopts subcutaneous injection, a route with no registered product and no human protocol in the indexed literature.

Limitations and unknowns

Important limitations

  • The main clinical report is small, regionally concentrated, and not a modern large placebo-controlled trial.
  • Regulatory status differs internationally and no FDA-approved product exists.
  • A calculator preset is a recorded research convention, not a recommendation or evidence of clinical benefit.
  • Identity, purity, sterility, and stability can vary substantially outside regulated manufacturing.
  • Route, formulation, and population can make results from one study inapplicable to another use.
